"Max Headroom: 20 Minutes into the Future" on DVD
I was at Tsutaya DVD rental (Japan's biggest and best rental shop) yesterday, when I caught this little gem on the rack...

(Japanese site info)

Apparently though, it's only in rental form. No commerical sales DVDs have been released. The Transformer (the company releasing the DVD for rental) site confirms this. There is still no word as to whether or not it will be released commercially.

This is the original British movie version.

Rental began on September 2nd, 2005.

DVD Rental release information (Japanese PDF).

Has it been released in other countries on DVD?

Re: body parts for sale!
definitely. oh, I'm not so sure about any possible US releases having extras, but I don't think this Japanese release does at all. Then again, i didn't look that hard.

I'm guessing this the same as the laserdisc release...which means it will be out on DVD for sale at some point. Why is it available for rental before distribution?? Does this happen often in Japan? BTW, I checked my usual import people, but no one has it... yet.

I'm hoping so. No idea. Maybe to remind people of it? But it already played on cable TV between 2001 and 2002, so I don't think that's it. No idea. Maybe they were able to get it for cheap and decided to release it. I don't think this happens in Japan, then again, I wouldn't know as this is an older movie being re-released rather than a recent movie, which would see simultaneous release with sales. Yeah, they shouldn't; it's supposed to be rental only, that's what the ad indicates only, but who knows.
